RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Yu’s group focuses on interdisciplinary aspects of geotechnical engineering, sensor technology, and advanced numerical simulation. The long-term research goal is to better characterize and understand the multi-phase porous soil media through the development of new sensing techniques and advanced numerical simulations. Specific research areas include time domain reflectometry (TDR) technology, geothermal energy, reliability, and risk-based geotechnical design, and numerical simulations.
TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Yu’s educational goal is to educate and train well-qualified researchers and engineers in geotechnical engineering through innovations in interactive classroom and laboratory teaching. Dr. Yu has taught CE 3343 soil mechanics, CE 4320/5372 design of earth structures, CE 4322/5372 Geosynthetics, CE 6311 advanced foundation design, and CE 6300 advanced geotechnical modeling.’
PROSPECTIVE GROUP MEMBERS
Dr. Yu is always looking for talented and motivated graduate students to join his research group. If you are interested in working with his group, please send an email to Dr. Yu and include your CV and a brief description of your research interests and goals. Your CV should include your English test and GRE.
